Warmzone snow melting systems can be installed in almost any driveway, and they are unique because they can be installed in new asphalt driveways. Without sacrificing performance, these great products are incredibly easy to install compared to other snow melting systems on the market. Warmzone carries both low- and line-voltage snow melting systems. The line-voltage Danfoss GX system is designed to produce 30+ watts per square foot and provide maintenance-free snow melting for years.
All Danfoss GX systems require a control unit which sends heat to the cable. A certified electrician is required to hook up power to the control unit, but the rest of the system can be installed by any contractor. Cold leads are wired to the control unit and run to the location of the heating cable. The cold leads are spliced to the heating cable, and the cable is laid out over the area to be heated. (Cold leads come pre-spliced.)
Concrete is another great application for the Danfoss GX snow melting system. The system is designed to produce a minimum of 30 watts per square foot. The cable is secured to the remesh with wire ties and spaced at 3-6". The heating cable can be laid out to heat any size or shape of driveway, sidewalk, parking lot, or patio. This system is the perfect fit for residential and commercial applications. Once installed, the system is practically maintenance free. The 100% automated system with no moving parts makes it an excellent solution for all snow and ice melting applications.
Asphalt - New
Because of the cable's high quality and durable makeup, it can withstand the heat and compression of newly poured asphalt. The cable is laid out on the base surface (usually sand), and the asphalt is hand shoveled onto the cable and base surface. Insulation is always recommended, but not required. One inch rigid insulation can be installed underneath the base surface, or it can be laid on the base surface and the cable can be secured on top of the insulation.
Asphalt - repave
This system is also unique because it doesn't have to be installed in a new driveway. If you have an existing asphalt driveway and will be repaving your driveway, then you're in luck. The cable only needs to be embedded in a half inch of asphalt. The cable is secured to the existing asphalt with clips and nails, then the new asphalt is hand shoveled on to the existing driveway and cable. The Danfoss GX system is the easiest system to install and provides the best performance for heating asphalt driveways.
Brick Paver - Installation
Installing a snow melting system under brick pavers is the easiest installation method, and cable heating systems are the most effective systems for pavers. The cable is simply laid out on the base surface over the area to be heated, and the pavers are installed as normal over the cables. The Danfoss GX system can be installed easily under any type of pavers. Because the cable has been tested and approved for wet conditions, moisture can come in contact with the cable and not affect its performance.
