Snow Melting Options | How Danfoss GX Works | Installation and Applications | The Benefits

Danfoss GX System Includes:

Heating Cable

The Danfoss GX system uses a high quality and very durable cable that can withstand nature's worst conditions. The Danfoss GX cable is UL listed and consists of a twin conductor with FEP/XLPE insulation, polyolefin jacketing (providing flexibility and UV protection). The cable is rated at 220° F and has a minimum 10-year warranty. The cable is designed to produce 30-50 watts per square foot and is the quickest snow melting system on the market.

Control Unit

The control units are NEMA 1, wall-mounted control panels. The size of the control unit is based on the size and type of application, but the most common unit size is 14"x14"x4", which is the largest. The controls include line and load terminal blocks and operating contactors. Every control unit comes equipped with a 4-hr timer for manual operation. The Danfoss GX cable is installed in concrete, asphalt, or under pavers

Activation Device

Danfoss GX systems come standard with an aerial-mounted snow switch. This highly sophisticated device automatically turns on the Danfoss GX system and has several notable features, including adjustable temperature trigger point, adjustable delay off cycle, upgradeable remote activation, and it is smart system compatible. The pavement-mounted snow switch is available for all systems but is mainly used in commercial applications. With these devices, the Danfoss GX systems are 100% automated and will turn on whenever it snows. The 4-hr timer on the control unit acts as a manual backup in case the wind blows snow on the driveway or ice forms due to wind or shade.
