Installation of Hydronic Radiant Floor Heating
InfloorBoard is the easiest and quickest hydronic floor heating system to install.
It can be efficiently installed by specialty InfloorBoard radiant installers or by a trained general contractor.
InfloorBoard is first cut to size, glued, then either screwed or stapled to a standard subfloor. The boards are laid
in a pattern so that the PEX tubing needed for that particular space will fulfill the room's heating requirements.
There are three easily understood board shapes which are usually assembled with very little cutting to form the groove layout for the 3/8" PEX tubing.
More details about these boards can be found by clicking here.
When cutting is required, conventional circular saws, radial arm saws, or table saws can be used.
After the boards are secured to the subfloor, the PEX tubing is then installed in the pre-cut grooves. One continuous
roll of tubing is used so that it starts and ends near the boiler. Finished flooring goods may then be easily installed over
InfloorBoard, with reference to the installation manual. Almost any type of flooring may be installed over the InfloorBoard
material, including carpet, engineered hardwood, hardwood, laminate flooring, tile, and vinyl.
View the diagrams below to see how the InfloorBoard hydronic floor heating is installed under the different types of flooring.
