Safety is Number One for New Control Units |
|
Warmzone has been helping radiant heating customers choose the best products for their projects and solving any issues
along the way; as a result we know exactly what our customers need. That is why Warmzone developed the DMC-100 master control
unit for snowmelt systems that is UL listed for residential and industrial projects.

DMC-100 Master
Control Unit |
Other control units on the market pose problems for home owners because they do not meet
residential safety standards.
The DMC-100 master control unit is the only control unit of its kind that is UL listed for residential areas.
This means the snowmelt control unit
has passed the rigorous demands required to achieve the industry’s highest standards of safety. UL listing also ensures that
your home’s fire insurance policy will not be voided by installing the
automated snowmelt system.

The DMC-100 uses a simple yet sophisticated digital operator interface that
does not contain external parts, making it rugged and easy to use. The
control unit is designed to activate the heated driveway or snowmelt system for the
allotted time selected by the user and then automatically shut off when the time
has expired.
|
The DMC-100 series of control boxes demonstrates Warmzone’s innovation and expertise
in the radiant heat industry, as well as our commitment to accommodating the needs of our customers.

For snowmelt systems that cover large areas, an extension unit (EXU-100) can be attached
to the DMC-100. A single DMC-100 will provide exterior snow removal radiant heat for areas up to approximately 530 square feet
(at 36 watts per square foot). Up to five extension units can be connected to a single DMC-100 master control unit. The Warmzone
master control unit is unparalleled in its performance, ease of use, and safety certifications making it the premier driveway heating
and snowmelt control unit on the market today.

Warmzone will assist you in finding professional, certified installers who can install the control box to any industrial or
residential radiant heat system.

Project Highlight

Runaway Truck Ramp in Connecticut |
|
Two of the biggest reasons for installing a snowmelt system are safety and maintenance free snow removal. Safety was also the
biggest concern for a dangerous stretch of road in Connecticut that has already claimed four lives. In an effort to prevent more
accidents, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT) set out to build a runaway truck ramp. CDOT chose Warmzone’s
Danfoss GX snowmelt system to optimize the ramp’s safety.
The truck ramp is located in a mountainous metropolitan area of Connecticut, which created a unique problem. Because of
limited space, the ramp could only be 480 feet long and required three metal nets to slow vehicle speed in the event of brake
failure. The ramp walls are two feet thick and five feet high and reinforced from within with steel to stop a car from breaking
through the ramp.
The nets coupled with the thick high walls made traditional methods of snow removal
virtually impossible. There was no place to put
plowed snow, and the metal safety nets had to be removed each time snow removal was required. The safety of the ramp was severely
compromised when snow or ice gathered, making removal critical. A snowmelt system was the best option to keep the ramp safe and
functioning properly all year-round.

Warmzone and the Connecticut Department of Transportation
utilized saw-cut technology to embed the GX radiant heating cable
into the asphalt runaway truck ramp.
Projects of this scale usually require more installation expertise than that of a small snowmelt system, which is why Warmzone’s technical
specialist, Dan Mignogna, traveled to Connecticut to assist with the installation. With over 32 years of experience
as an electrician and an expert in radiant heating, Mignogna worked closely with the CDOT team to determine the proper
system installation and wiring of the automatic snow sensors.
The easiest method for installing a snowmelt system is beneath new asphalt
or concrete. For this project, the Danfoss GX cables needed to be installed into existing asphalt using concrete cutting technology.
The cables were embedded 3 inches into the asphalt and covered using sealant. Each row of GX cable was spaced 6 inches apart.
The entire project required 12,960 feet of Danfoss GX cable.
The CDOT runaway truck ramp is scheduled for completion in early September of 2008. Click on the link for more information about
Danfoss GX snowmelt systems. |
