Dream Big with In-Floor Radiant Heat

Don’t Limit Yourself When it Comes to Home Heating

Your mom and dad always told you to reach for the stars and to dream big. Now you are all grown up and it seems very little in life helps us actually feel like we’re achieving those big dreams. But when it comes to your home heating you can be a hero in your own right. You can dream of heating your house all the way to the sky, or at the very least from your floor to your ceiling. In-floor radiant heating can do that very thing. Radiant heat cables beneath your floor surface allow the radiant heat to permeate your home with comfortable warmth from the floor all the way to the ceiling.

Heated hardwood floor

It may not be feasible to send your heat all the way to the sky, but there’s no reason you can’t aim for at least the top of your wall paper. Home heating is simpler than ever with radiant heated floors. The heating cables coil quietly beneath the surface of your carpet and emit constant, comforting warmth throughout the room or the whole house if you are lucky enough (or smart enough) to install it in each room of your home. Each room can operate with its own floor heating thermostat, so you have precise control when it comes to efficiently heating only the rooms in your home that you choose. With forced air systems, you can close the vents the rooms where you don’t need the heat, but the furnace still operates at the same level. With radiant heated floors, you can choose exactly what rooms to heat so you don’t waste any energy. Now that’s a smart way to warm your floors and heat your home.

In addition to in-floor heating being an energy efficient method of home heating, radiant heat systems also cut down on unwanted dust and allergens as well, which are two notorious downfalls of forced air. Go big, dream big, and heat big – without the BIG utility bill. With in-floor radiant heating you’ll be achieving the best in home heating

Automated Heated Driveways

Radiant Heated Driveways Work Only When Needed

It’s rare to get around-the-clock reassurance with consumer products, yet a radiant heated driveway offers just that. Once you install a heated driveway, you quickly become the neighbor that has the heated driveway that automatically warms the driveway during a snowstorm in the day or the night – and then shutoffs afterwards. This means you sail through the winter with relative ease. The manual back-breaking labor you once dreaded after a storm is limited to sweeping a few particles of snow off your welcome mat at your front door.

Radiant heated driveways come with a smart snow sensor that is always working. This doesn’t mean your heat cables are always on. The radiant heated driveway uses sensors to detect temperatures and amounts of snowfall and activate the radiant heating system, only when needed. This means that you’ll cut down on energy costs and eliminate the need for snowmelt chemicals or rock salt.

Radiant heated driveways communicate with the snow sensor that is programmed to activate the system when needed (usually when it detects precipitation and temperatures are below 39°Fahrenheit). The sensor signals the controller (typically installed on the wall in the garage) when conditions warrant and the controller then sends power to the heat cables to heat the driveway as the first snowflake hits. Afterwards, the system shuts off.

The driveway heating system also features manual override capability, so you can melt snowdrifts or ice that may have formed in a shady area. The snow sensor for a heated driveway system is typically installed on the side of your roof where it can accurately sense temperature and snowfall conditions. Once your heated driveway is installed, it can work without your presence, around the clock, reliably, and confidently

Even When the Four Winds Blow, You’ll Have Heated Floors

Colder Temperatures Outside Don’t Have to Mean Colder Floors Inside

The winds can be howling, the temperatures dipping, the ice forming, and the dogs barking and yet you can escape it all just by walking inside to find your cozy, comforting, warmth providing radiant floor heating hard at work to keep your home steadily warm. Heated floors are the newest craze sweeping new home building, but it’s not just reserved for new construction. Radiant heat can be installed beneath your existing floors. Radiant floor heating works especially well for areas of your home that always seem to be chilled; even better if those floors typically have colder surfaces, such as tilehardwood, or linoleum.

Radiant floor heating is masterful at maintaining steady, welcome heat throughout your floors. Even on the coldest days outside, you can walk inside and immediately feel the radiant heat hard at work touching every surface it comes into contact with. Heat rises, so it only makes sense that heat cables installed in your floor would make a difference in the way your home feels each day. Installing radiant heat can be done year round and the benefits realized as soon as the cold weather returns. Radiant floor heating is a smart choice for a smaller bathroom, or kitchen, or basement bedroom and also powerful enough to heat an entire home efficiently and effectively

Now is the Time to Reflect on what Radiant Heat can do for You

Realize the Potential of Radiant Heating Technology

We’ve all heard the term to “unleash the power” of something. Athletes use it, business men use it, lovers of power tools use it, and now you too can throw it into your everyday vernacular when it comes to unleashing the power of radiant heat. Radiant heat can do so much for you personally and yet you may not yet realize the true potential magnificence of radiant heating technology.

hotnews-ct-heated-floor-0-278

For example, did you know that the principles of radiant heat may now warm your entire home for a fraction of the energy costs your regular furnace can? Radiant floor heat is sweeping the home building world and for good reason. Radiant floor heating systems provide steady and even warmth throughout a room. The heat rises, as heat is designed to naturally do and it permeates all it comes into contact with. Radiant heated floors heat the entire room from the ground all the way to the ceiling. You’ll find your furniture casting a more warming glow, your flooring oozes warmth, and your family internalizes the warming glow and smiles a whole lot more.

Radiant heat can also be applied outdoors. Why heat the outdoors you ask? Well, that is a great question and if you live where there is significant snow fall ask yourself what you would give to never shovel another back-breaking pound of snow off your driveway. Chances are you would be willing to at least query the principles of a heated driveway. You’ll probably be talked into a snow melting system in a matter of minutes. The same theory applies to your roof, where snow and ice and quickly accumulate and cause damage. Radiant roof heating cables are yet another reason radiant heat is making a mark on consumer’s pocket books. Notice I said making a mark, not breaking the bank. If you investigate radiant heating technology in any of the above mentioned forms you will be pleasantly surprised that not only are they affordable but they can enhance your quality of life

Radiant Floor Heating – Plain, Simple and Luxurious

Floor Heating Systems are Easier than You Think

When most of us think about our home heating system, we think of a complicated maze of air ducts, furnaces and vents. The installation of a central heating system is well beyond the expertise of the average homeowner, but what about a radiant floor heating system?

Installing radiant heat for heated bathroom floor

Advances in radiant heat technology have come a long way since radiant under floor heating was first introduced, and electric floor heating systems are environmentally friendly because they run more efficiently than the average furnace and run independent of harmful fossil fuels.

On top of all that, radiant heat provides unparalleled comfort and even-heating. Forced air cannot compete with the steady and efficient warmth put forth by radiant heated floors. A common misconception about radiant heating is that it can only go beneath hard surfaces such as tile. While heated tile floors are indeed great options for radiant heat, they are not the only option available.

Warmzone has several electric radiant floor heating solutions for virtually any type of flooring. You can even do most of the floor heating installation yourself. If you want to start small with a bathroom, electric radiant heating systems make it easy to heat small areas. Each room has its own thermostat, so you can heat only where you want, without having to waste in other parts of your home. Because radiant floor heating is so plain and simple, the plain and simple fact is that you’ll want radiant heat for your entire home!

Brighten Up the Dark of Winter with Home Heating Upgrades

Add Electric Panel Heaters and Save Money Too

Believe it or not, adding energy-efficient electric heating can save you money. Sounds like music to your ears about now doesn’t it? The economy downturn has given us all pause to look at our finances. Sure on the surface adding more gadgets, devices, or instruments to your home may sound initially expensive. Adding anything to your home heating may seem beyond your financial reach. This isn’t true if you go about it wisely.

ECO-heater wall panel heater

Did you know that by simply supplementing your home heating with energy-efficient electric heating devices you can save money on your monthly heating bill? It’s true. Some areas of your home heating may not be working as optimally as you’d desire. Cold bathrooms and basements are prime suspects. Consider placing an electric wall-mounted heater in those areas and the safe and energy-efficient heating that results will help cut your heating expenses. Your current system won’t have to work quite as hard to heat those tough to reach spaces, because your electric heater is pulling some of the weight. It is possible to brighten up the dark and dreary winter by augmenting your home heating with wall, baseboard, and pedestal heaters.

Make a Heated Driveway Work for You

The Days of Manual Snow Removal are Over
Seriously consider a life without back breaking snow removal. Can you picture it? Are you smiling? Well, having a radiant snow melting system right outside your front door makes that snow-removal-less life possible. If you put a heated driveway to work for you, chances are you’ll enjoy winter a whole lot more.

It doesn’t take much effort or upfront cost to make a radiant heated driveway possible either. Radiant snow melting systems are a simple addition to any new driveway as they can be installed before the concrete, pavers or asphalt goes down. But if you have an existing driveway you don’t need to lose heart because heated driveways can also be retrofitted in your current asphalt or concrete driveway.

Radiant heated driveway

Radiant heated driveways eliminate the back breaking, hand shoveling, sweating work of manual snow removal. Heated driveway systems are fully automated, so feel free to sleep in or enjoy your morning coffee from the warmth of your living room. When temperatures are below a set point (usually 39°F) and the snow sensor (pictured right⇒) detects moisture, it signals the controller which then sends power to the heat cables, outputting a steady stream of warmth to keep your driveway clear of snow and ice. Once the snow flakes hit the warmed surface they don’t have a chance to accumulate as they melt on impact, leaving you with a heated driveway constantly clear of snow. The snow is left to accumulate where it is more appreciated, like your front yard (for optimal snowball fights and snowman building) or even your next door neighbor’s driveway.

If you’ve told your neighbors about your heated driveway and they still haven’t installed a radiant snow melting system of their own, you have every right to silently snicker at them as you watch from the warmth of your front window as they huff and puff to remove their snow by hand. If you make a heated driveway work for you, your snow removal days are over. Forever.

Outdoor Radiant Heat Systems

As radiant heated floors have gained new popularity, so too have heated driveways and radiant snow melting systems. Homeowners are discovering the advantages of automated snow melting systems and ditching their snow shovels and bags of salt. And businesses are getting in on the act too.

Radiant snow melting systems have proven to be invaluable for ramps, loading docks and pedestrian walkways. Employees can focus on their jobs instead of taking time out to shovel snow during the winter months, and liability for slips and falls on icy sidewalks is greatly diminished. The increased safety and productivity far outweigh the costs, as businesses continue to seek out radiant heat snow melting solutions.

Home settings like steps, patios or sidewalks that lead to a hot tub are popular applications for snow melting systems. Hydronic or electric snow melting systems can be installed for both heated sidewalks/driveways or heated floors. While radiant snow melting systems are typically installed in new construction applications, radiant heat can also be installed in existing driveways and sidewalks.

Snow melting system installed under pavers

Using saw-cut technology, grooves can be cut into concrete or asphalt surfaces and heat cable can then be placed in the grooves. An epoxy topcoat is then applied to seal the heat cable in the grooves. A sand broadcast can be applied to the surface before the epoxy cures if you want additional traction and safety.

Heat cable can also be placed on top of an old asphalt driveway and then a new layer of asphalt is then applied on top of that and compacted. (ClearZone heat cable is designed to withstand the extreme temperature and stress of asphalt applications.)

Radiant snow melting systems can be customized and installed in countless numbers of snow melting applications. Call a Warmzone radiant heat expert to learn more today, 888.488.9276.

Save Yourself a Fall Off Your Roof; Install Heated Gutters

Heated Gutters Keep Ice and Debris Clear So You Don’t Have Too

This is a true story. When I was a girl I looked out my bedroom window one winter afternoon and found my dad lying next to an oak tree in our front yard in direct line of our roof. I opened my window to inquire about his health (mental and physical). After a moment, he groaned that he had fallen off our roof. Needless to say, the roof was not a heated roof.

Upon further investigation I saw that the gutters just outside my window had perfect hand grips pulled down where my dad had tried to catch himself as he slipped off the two story roof. Having a roof de-icing system would have prevented his fall since he would never have had to be up there in the first place. The poor guy was trying to clear the gutters and roof from ice and snow when, like so many people do, he slipped and went right off to the ground below. Luckily his injuries were fairly minor, but the soreness of his body reminded him he didn’t need to do that trip to the roof again mid-winter. Installing gutter trace heat cables keeps your roof and gutters clear of slippery ice and snow and allows your feet to remain firmly planted on the ground, where they belong.

This afternoon I heard of another friend’s father falling off a ladder while attempting to gain access to his roof for the same purpose. Also a non-heated roof and also a slippery trap waiting to lure one into its clutches. His injuries were more serious than my dad’s. He sustained a head fracture as well as a broken back. Having a heated roof is not only convenient it’s also much, much safer. I’m sure we all have horror stories of being on the roof, either personally or someone close to us. Be safe, make the smart homeowner’s choice and put a roof deicing system in place and enjoy the safety of a heated roof and gutter trace system.
