View the video <a title=\"Making turns with snow melting mats\" href=\"\/blog\/tag\/making-turns-with-mats\/\">How to Make Turns<\/a> with&nbsp;mats.<\/li>\n<li>Heating cable\/mats should be spaced at no less than 2-inches <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_1137262be8c8ecb3d0fee61d0f6ec98c\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">center-to-center<\/span> and no more than 4-inches <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_1137262be8c8ecb3d0fee61d0f6ec98c\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">center-to-center<\/span>. This also applies to adjacent heating mats.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Securing the heat cable using remesh and Mesh-Ups\" href=\"\/blog\/tag\/secure-heat-cable\/\">Secure the heating cable<\/a> to the wire mesh or grid using plastic zip ties. Make sure that the cable\/mats and the wire mesh are secure so that they will not move or shift when the <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_568f830d3e920efaca9c000fbe6aa146\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">concrete<\/span> is being poured.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong><a title=\"ClearZone snow melting heat cable\" href=\"\/snow-melting\/heated-driveway\/clearzone.php\">heating cable<\/a><\/strong> will need to be positioned 2-inches from the surface of the <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_568f830d3e920efaca9c000fbe6aa146\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">concrete<\/span>. Use wire remesh and <strong><a title=\"Mesh-Up supports for heat cable installation in concrete\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buymeshups.com\/site\/page\">Mesh-Ups<\/a><\/strong> or <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_568f830d3e920efaca9c000fbe6aa146\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">concrete<\/span> dobies\/chairs to position the heating cable within 2-inches of the surface. <strong>The heating cable\/<span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_8c245b76815ca0ecd1ba719ee36a9505\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>mat<\/span> should never rest on the ground.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Using Mesh-Up supports for heat cable installation in concrete\" href=\"\/blog\/video\/using-mesh-ups-to-properly-position-the-heating-cable\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3373\" src=\"http:\/\/www.warmzone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/placing-meshups.png\" alt=\"Placing Mesh-Ups under cable and remesh\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not allow heating cable to cross an <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_7e6ae608b03d85b5eaede1b6dc6381e9\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">expansion joint<\/span>. Control joints are allowable under the following conditions:\n<ul>\n<li>The <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_88a0c641874514753af8c703ad318ebc\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>joint<\/span> is tooled or cut NO deeper than 1&frac14;-inches.<\/li>\n<li>A 6-inch piece of &frac14;-inch angle iron is recommended to protect the cable any place where a <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_5f086a1c5e39645d121494a71c436622\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">control joint<\/span> will pass over it. The heating cable is tightly strapped to the angle iron with plastic zip ties.<\/li>\n<li>Mark the forms where the angle irons are located to accurately place the control joints.<\/li>\n<li>The cable must be &frac34; to 1-inch below the bottom of the <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_88a0c641874514753af8c703ad318ebc\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>joint<\/span>. (Do NOT tool joints deeper than 1&frac12; inches. Stay above heating cables.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Illustration of proper installation of cold lead and heat cable splice\" href=\"http:\/\/www.warmzone.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cz-cable-lead-conduit-150.jpg\">Embed all of the heating cable and the <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_5acdd5fe9f6206ff4aa8ceed81a038e3\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">splice<\/span><\/a>. The cold <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_6fcef0744663fb0b8e2734604bb4f69b\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>lead<\/span> on the heat cable and mats is not rated for direct burial in earth and must be <span class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_597f0993d8acb7f9bdf20df1b39c57b8\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]'  tabindex='0' role='link'>run<\/span> through a <span class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_0487e3821920923d485eb7a7d587e17a\" data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">conduit<\/span>.
